Of course, the car could not become a bestseller, but it consistently demonstrated good sales volume, which is the merit of its modern and stylish design, good equipment and level of comfort.
Ford officially unveiled the second generation Ford Edge in 2015, which debuted at the annual Frankfurt Motor Show. In comparison with the previous generation, the novelty has received a more aggressive look, acquired more economical and efficient engines, and also became even more safe and comfortable.
Unfortunately, the official new Ford Edge 2017 in Russia has not yet been presented, but it is possible that the car may be in Ford dealerships next year. Therefore, it is necessary to talk in more detail about the improvements that the model has undergone and assess its chances of success in the Russian market.
Exterior Ford Edge 2017
The appearance of the novelty is borrowed from the Ford Edge Concept presented in 2013 and, most importantly, the production version does not look worse.
Almost rectangular "muzzle" of the car received a huge false radiator grille, slightly narrowed head optics in the European manner and a monumental front bumper with a hexagonal air intake and a neat pseudo-splitter.
Muscular profile received massive wheel arches, strict stamping along the side doors and a sloping roofline. Stylish, sporty side skirts complete the look.
Rear Ford Edge 2017 showcases new side lights that merge with the rear window, a massive tailgate with a large spoiler and a muscular rear bumper with a spectacular off-road body kit and a pair of "trunks" of the exhaust system.

Interior of the new Ford Edge 2017
Unfortunately, the interior was not nearly as futuristic as that of the Ford Edge Concept. Nevertheless, the interior looks recklessly, energetic and modern. Unlike its predecessor, the salon has become more "European", which will certainly have a positive effect on the sales of new items in Europe.
Driver's seat received a new multifunction steering wheel and a stylish instrument cluster, complemented by a color LCD display. The laconic, but not boring central dashboard is represented by an 8-inch "TV" of the multimedia information complex, as well as neat blocks of the audio and climate system.
The manufacturer proudly notes that when creating the interior, he used better and more durable finishing materials. The build quality is also at a very, very high level by the standards of the class.
Front seats received a dense padding, unobtrusive but well-performing side support rollers, as well as a wide range of adjustments (optionally with an electric drive), allowing a person of any size to sit comfortably. By the way, 48 mm of free space was added at the feet of the front riders, and 25 mm at the back.
Rear sofa easily accommodates three adult passengers, which is especially important for families who like to travel long distances. Compared to the previous generation Ford Edge, the trunk volume in the stowed state has increased by 198 liters and is now 1,100 liters, and in the case of lowered second-row seats, the increase was 127 liters to 2,077 liters, which is one of the best indicators in this class.
Customers can choose from a wide range of optional equipment, as well as a choice of fabric, combined or all-leather seat upholstery.

Note that both in the first and in the second case, the car consumes on average about 5.8 l / 100 km, and can also accelerate to a maximum of 218 km / h.
According to official data, a crossover with a diesel engine takes 9.4 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h and a top speed of 211 km / h.
In the case of choosing a gasoline Ford Edge, the buyer has access to an uncontested 6-level "automatic" SelectShift, and in the case of a diesel engine - a 6-level "hydromechanics" or a modern "robot" with a double clutch system.
The second generation Ford Edge is based on the global C / D truck, familiar from the latest generations of Ford Fusion / Mondeo. Its use assumes the presence of a front independent suspension of the MacPherson type with lower L-arms, as well as a rear suspension of an independent type with a multi-link.
Depending on the version, the car will be aggregated with disc brakes with a ventilation system on the front axle or with fully ventilated discs on all wheels. The steering received an electric power assist with variable steering effort, which provides comfortable driving both on the highway and in the parking lot.
As before, the car is offered with a mono and all-wheel drive transmission based on an electronically controlled center clutch.
